Gate Precast Company, part of the Gate Petroleum family of companies, is seeking a dedicated, self-motivated experienced Human Resource Manager at its Jacksonville, Florida, Precast facility. The Jacksonville Plant is Gate Petroleum’s oldest non-petroleum division. Acquired 1980, this Plant provides prestressed concrete products for bridges, parking garages, stadiums and building structures throughout Florida. Gate Precast is one of the nation's largest producers of architectural and structural precast concrete, pre-stressed hollow core slabs, transportation/infrastructure and marine components, operating eight manufacturing facilities located in North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, two in Florida and two in Texas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Human Resource Manager, Jacksonville Plant, is a hands-on position with generalist duties, responsible for planning, performing, enforcing and managing all Human Resource activities for a widely diverse, multi-cultural, heavy industrial workplace. Typical activities include: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration, training, performance/attendance monitoring, disciplinary actions, employee recognition/awards, supporting leadership team, developing and implementing policies and procedures, maintaining HR documents, data and employee records, assisting with Safety program and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations. Investigate and resolve employee complaints, union grievances. Communicate the HR program and Company directives with a widely diverse workforce representing many cultures and backgrounds, many with English as second language. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be comfortable in an industrial/construction environment. Duties include time spent in the production areas wearing of appropriate PPE (hard hat, hearing protections, steel toe shoes, etc). Standard office environment and equipment. Able to sit in an office environment, walk upstairs, lift up to 15 lbs. Work in an office environment with air conditioning as well as in 80 acre outdoor production area in heat, cold, rain, dusty, noisy conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Degree in Human Resources or related, with 3+ years generalist experience preferably in industrial or construction environment, with at least one year in supervisory capacity; or 7 years’ experience in HR field including supervisory experience. Experience with labor union and collective bargaining desired.
Solid knowledge of Federal and state labor laws, EEO, unemployment, HRIS systems, payroll processing systems (Kronos preferred), benefits administration. Proficient in typical office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Gate Precast recently established an engineering department at its architectural precast production facility in Hillsboro, Texas and is in need of an experienced Engineering Manager to continue to build, train, and manage a staff of engineering, drafting, and BIM professionals.  The potential candidate will be a registered Civil/Structural Professional Engineer with a background in the design of Precast/Prestressed Concrete and be a self-starting, proven leader.

Experience and knowledge should include:

  • Conventional reinforced concrete design
  • Post-tensioned and prestressed concrete design
  • Insulated sandwich wall panel design
  • IBC, ASCE, and other building codes
  • PCI and ACI design requirements
  • Seismic, hurricane, and blast force design
  • Stripping and handling, and shipping and erection analysis
  • Design of production and handling equipment

Software – Autodesk Revit, LEAP PRESTO, RISA-3D, LECWALL, Mathcad, and Excel are all used extensively in Gate engineering offices.

Periodic travel to jobsites and customer’s offices will be required as well as maintaining a presence in the production facility.

Gate Precast Company has drafting and BIM modeling openings at multiple locations.  Gate has engineering offices at each of their precast concrete plants located in Ashland City, TN, Hillsboro, TX, Jacksonville, FL, Kissimmee, FL, Monroeville, AL, Oxford, AL, Pearland, TX, and Winchester, KY, and satellite engineering/drafting offices in Brentwood, TN, Jacksonville, AR, and Lexington, KY.

Successful candidates will create production piece drawings and field erection drawings of architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete systems for office buildings, schools, hospitals, stadiums, warehouses, and other commercial and institutional projects using Autodesk Revit and EDGE^Revit.

An associate’s degree in computer aided design and drafting or equivalent experience is required.  Candidates must be highly detail oriented with an ability to meet tight deadlines.  Preferred candidates will have experience detailing precast concrete products.

Design Engineer (Precast Concrete)

Gate Precast Company is one of the nation's largest producers of architectural precast concrete and pre-stressed hollow core slabs installed in large commercial and residential construction projects for customers in over two-thirds of the United States.


We are seeking Design Engineers for our Hillsboro, TX office to perform structural engineering design and analysis for the company's architectural and structural precast concrete members (both conventionally reinforced, pre-stressed and sandwich panels). Individuals will apply advanced theoretical knowledge of structural and civil engineering concepts and principles, as well as experience working in the construction field, to perform the duties of the position.


Responsibilities include:


·        Prepare design calculations, reports and spreadsheets in accordance to applicable contract documents.

·        Perform analysis related to stripping and rigging of precast concrete members.

·        Perform structural engineering design for steel hangers and frames for erecting and handling precast concrete members.

·        Conduct Finite Element Analysis on precast concrete wall panels.

·        Design and analyze connections and anchoring both for handling and erecting precast wall panels.

·        Work with a multi-discipline team to ensure a coordinated design package.

·        Provide structural engineering support to sales and estimating as needed including reviewing drawings, preliminary design and technical support on sales calls.

·        Provide engineering support to quality control and erection processes.

·        Perform structural modeling using software.


This position does not supervise any other personnel.


REQUIREMENTS:   The normal minimum requirements for the offered position are:


Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or any related Engineering field of study, and at least one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in any civil engineering or construction position providing the required skills and abilities.


Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, knowledge and experience with the following:


1.      Pre-stressed concrete design

2.      FEM (Finite Element Modeling), RISA 3-D

3.      Revit

4.      Mathcad
