Gate Takes Home Multiple Honors at PCI Event

Jacksonville, FL

The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute recognized four Gate Precast projects as best in category and two as honorable mentions during the recent 2016 PCI Design Awards.

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Emerging as a clear leader in the U.S. precast concrete market, Gate Precast received an impressive six project awards during the March 3 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute's Design Awards in Cleveland. Over its 55 years, the program has showcased precast applications that push the envelope, overcome challenges and improve upon existing concepts.
This year's Gate projects awarded "best in category" include:
Faena Park, Miami Beach, Fla. - Parking Structures (Facade Only): The parking structure façade is covered in thousands of slightly oblong holes that provide ventilation within an innovative eye-catching design. Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, Biloxi, Miss. - Government and Public Buildings: While the team considered numerous exterior wall materials and systems, it ultimately found that precast concrete panels would be the most economical and structurally appropriate material. Architect: H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture.
55 Pearl Street "DUMBO" Townhouses, Brooklyn, N.Y. - Custom Solutions: The building envelope incorporates a unique louvered precast concrete panel system cast with ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC. Architect: Alloy Design LLP.
Summit Country Day School Addition, Cincinnati, Ohio - Schools (K-12): By choosing precast, much of the addition could be designed, manufactured, shipped and erected in just 13 weeks. It also allowed designers to easily replicate the detail and character of the existing historic structure. Architect: SHP Leading Design.
Gate also received the Harry H. Edwards Industry Advancement Award (Honorable Mention) for Faena Park; and an honorable mention for King Abdullah Academy in Herndon, Va. - Schools (K-12). Architect: Bowie Gridley Architects.
